According to online research Trenant Park occupies the site of
one of Cornwall’s historic manors, recorded in the Domesday
Book of 1086. The estate remained an important seat in south
east Cornwall for centuries, passing through a succession of
notable Cornish families including the Hewis, Colshull, Arundell, Whittington and Treise dynasties before being
acquired in 1806 by Admiral Sir Edward Buller. Later ownership
included the Peel family, relatives of Prime Minister Sir Robert
Peel.

century, with significant remodelling during the early 18th
century and further enlargement in the 19th century. Set
within established parkland between the East and West Looe
