This well proportioned three bedroom home offers bright, versatile accommodation arranged over two floors, making it an ideal permanent residence or coastal retreat.
On the ground floor there is a spacious sitting and dining room, creating an excellent space for both everyday living and entertaining. There is a large characterful inglenook fireplace with multifuel stove.
The kitchen, with direct access from the main living area, has all modern amenities and provides ample worktop and storage space. Also on the ground floor is a generous conservatory, offering additional and versatile living accommodation. The conservatory, which opens onto the rear patio garden, is a light filled space - ideal as a second reception room, garden room, home office or playroom, allowing you to enjoy the outdoor setting throughout the seasons. The bathroom with bath and shower over is also on the ground floor.
On the first floor, the landing gives access to three bedrooms, all providing comfortable accommodation. The principal bedroom is a generous double, with glass door onto the spacious sea facing balcony. The balcony is an outstanding feature where you can relax and enjoy the attractive sea views. It provides the perfect spot to unwind with a morning coffee or evening drink.
The remaining bedrooms, one currently with twin beds and the other a cosy cabin bedroom, offer flexibility for family, guests or those working from home.
Designed with low maintenance in mind, the private garden, with flowering shrubs and bulbs is an inviting outdoor space, ideal for enjoying meals with family and friends or simply making the most of the peaceful surroundings.
Location – Set on the magnificent Lizard Peninsula, not far from the tranquil creeks of the Helford River, lies one of Cornwall’s most historic coastal villages. Known locally as ‘Pralla’, Porthallow was once a thriving fishing community and home to a busy fleet of pilchard luggers, hence the name of its traditional village pub, ‘The Five Pilchards’. The family owned pub is undoubtedly the hub of the village.
A short walk from the village you’ll find the Fat Apples cafe with its delightful garden.
A few steps down to the beach there is parking freely available to Porthallow residents.
Steeped in maritime heritage, this idyllic corner of the south Cornwall coast offers a wonderful local community within easy reach of the region’s most beautiful beaches. A good range of day to day facilities are on offer in nearby St Keverne, with its shop and two characterful pubs. More comprehensive facilities including a choice of national super markets are located in Helston.
Porthallow is recognised as the half-way point along the world-famous South West Coast Path as it winds its way from Minehead to Poole. From the doorstep of this beautiful cottage you’ll be perfectly placed to access breathtaking coastal walks with far-reaching views across the sparkling waters of Falmouth Bay and St Mawes. The Porthallow valley trail is bathed in bluebells during the spring and the headland is a canvas for wildflowers atop of the serpentine rock formations, resplendent in their red and green hues.
Porthallow Beach is sheltered by the surrounding headland, a scenic stretch where the pilchard fisherman used to launch their boats. Porthallow Cove is full of rock pools at low tide and is also a great spot for snorkelling. The beach is now owned by the Porthallow Village Association with residents enjoying the right to moor, store and launch their boats.
