Comment from Robert Reed of Gascoigne Halman
I grew up in a 1930’s house so I have a natural affection for houses from this era. They make wonderful family homes and combine strong aesthetics with high grade building materials. The subject property is a superb example of its type and enjoys the benefit of a two storey extension, a very useful outbuilding of 373 square feet and a spectacular plot and garden with the whole extending to 0.58 acre in total.
The house stands in an individual position, accessed from the main Whitchurch Road, set back and approached via a curved driveway that leads to the front. It should also be noted that the house also enjoys a vehicular right of access over the driveway to neighbouring properties that lead to Eggbridge Lane.
The house has remained in the same family ownership since 1944 and is a hugely treasured family home which has a fantastic atmosphere and has been skilfully extended so as to provide a footprint and layout which is ideal for day-to-day life. There is also potential for the next owner of this house to modernise and adapt it to suit their own requirements.
The entrance hall, as is so often the case with houses of this era, is a real feature. Not only a good size and elegant, it also has a superb front door and wooden balustrade staircase that rises to the first floor. At ground floor there are two reception rooms, each with their own character and of excellent proportion. The breakfast kitchen has more than ample space for table and chairs and there is also a cloakroom. The first floor provides four double bedrooms, a study area and house bathroom.
Externally the garden is stunning with well-established flower borders, mature shrubs and trees and is ideal for those with a growing family, a keen interest in gardening or simply the family who wants their own sense of space and privacy. Or perhaps all three!
A short walk leads to the village primary school, a row of shops which provide for all daily needs and the Shropshire Union Canal from which the city centre of Chester can be accessed within a 25-minute cycle ride and a walk of around an hour. It should be noted that there is no ongoing chain.
