Originally part of Henley Mill, The Millers House forms the former heart of the complex and is one of its most important and historic buildings. I fell in love with the Millers House but also with the ancient town of Ludlow, with its mix of history, modernity and quaint Harry Potter like streets.

It’s a beautiful, friendly town, with a great mix of longstanding locals and ‘incomers’ like me, who’ve felt drawn from big cities or other beautiful rural locations to the vibrance, creativity and community of the town. There’s a strong year round plethora of activities and events here, based around arts, crafts, live music, sport, comedy and theatre. Ludlow’s huge Assembly Rooms hosts a cinema, theatre, restaurant, dance classes, and events for adults and children etc, having been hugely upgraded with a lottery grant over recent years.

The town is built around the impressive Ludlow Castle, the Norman church (founded in the 11th Century, with major developments in the 14th century) and the regular and varied markets in the town square, where a big Christmas tree illuminates the square.

It is a town of great history, with Catherine of Aragon having lived in Ludlow Castle when married to Henry viii’s brother Arthur (who died in Ludlow and had his ‘heart’ buried in the church, although it was later moved). Catherine went on to marry Henry VIII and their daughter Mary (who was the first female queen to rule England in her own right) also lived and was educated in Ludlow Castle.

As someone who moved from outside of the area I was struck by this property’s fantastic positioning. Close enough to have Ludlow on the doorstep yet secluded enough to really enjoy the countryside and send my child to a quaint, high standing village school at Bitterley, with a fabulous ethos and results.

We are accessible to London and Birmingham, with direct trains to Manchester, yet nestled between the two lovely cities of Hereford and Shrewsbury. Surrounded by outstanding educational establishments (such as Wigmore High School and Hereford College of Arts), National Trust properties and with the breathtaking Clee Hill, Long Mynd and Carding Mill Valley on our doorstep (which is known as ‘little Switzerland’ for good reason).
