Sellers Story (Paragraph)

Bell Cottage has been in our family for nearly 40 years. Our parents bought the property in 1987 when my brother & I were teenagers. Our Granny also moved with us. The house was perfect for Granny as she had a separate area (Granny annexe) in the house.

Our parents wanted to live in the countryside but have easy access to both Birmingham and Coventry. The village of Fillongley is ideally located near several major train stations, motorways (M6 & M42) as well as Birmingham Airport. There is a great local station at Hampton in Arden. The parking is free and it takes less than 15 minutes to travel to Birmingham New Street, or you can take the train down to London from there. I believe we are also going to be 15/20 minutes away from the HS2 Hub which is currently being built.

We have never felt isolated living in the countryside, quite the opposite as it is a very welcoming village and there is always some event taking place in Fillongley. We loved living in the centre of the village which is at the heart of the community. Listening to the bell ringers practice once a week or popping across the road for a meal at the village pub.

Bell Cottage has been a wonderful home for many years, and it will be incredibly sad when it is sold. It is a very special place.

I like all the rooms as they are all so different. It is such a unique property and over the years the house has been adapted for the different circumstances that have arisen in our family. Bedrooms have been used in diverse ways. One bedroom has been used as a nursery, a study, and a dressing room. Another bedroom has been used as an office, a snug and a gym.

However, my favourite room is the living room which currently houses the piano and overlooks the beautiful garden which is forever changing with the seasons. The garden is well stocked with mature shrubs and trees. The garden looks at its best in the Spring when the peonies, clematis, rhododendrons, alliums, bluebells and Magnolia tree are in bloom. There is a woodland area at the top of the garden which is lovely & cool in the summer as the patio is south facing and is gloriously warm in the summer.

There is an open fire in the living room which is wonderful in the winter and at Christmas. So many visitors have said that they love the sitting room whether it is the view of the garden or just the relaxed feeling that you have when you are cuddled up on the sofa.

There have been lots of memorable events, probably too many to mention. Birthday parties, barbeques, an engagement party etc. I was married in the Church in Fillongley at Christmas many years ago. Friends and family gathered the night before for a pre-wedding supper and on the day of the wedding the house was full of activity and lots of lovely photographs were taken at the house with my late parents so that is incredibly special to me. My brother had his 21st party at Bell Cottage. Again, the house was full of friends and family. Some of my friends even talk about it now as we had a bouncy castle in the garden, a disco on the patio with food and drink being supplied throughout the day and night and finishing with bacon rolls for breakfast.

However, our family’s memorable event was Boxing Day Drinks. My parents always had an open house on Boxing Day and invited friends and family for mulled wine and mince pies!

I will miss the house for all the reasons I have outlined above. I have such fond memories of the property. I will also miss the sense of community in the village. I have made lots of friends in Fillongley of all ages. There are plenty of things to do in the Village. From walking the dog with family and friends and discovering the fantastic walks that run through and around the village to the watching the cricket by Fillongley Hall on a sunny day or attending the Christmas Tree Festival in the Church.

Location (Paragraph)

Fillongley is a charming village located in the heart of Warwickshire, just a short drive from Coventry. Nestled amongst rolling hills and picturesque countryside, Fillongley boasts an idyllic rural setting, offering a peaceful and tranquil way of life.

The village is steeped in history, with many original buildings and structures still standing. The historic church of St. Mary and All Saints, dating back to the 14th century, is a must-visit for history enthusiasts. The village also has a number of traditional pubs and restaurants, serving locally-sourced food and drink.

For those who enjoy outdoor activities, Fillongley is a paradise. The village is surrounded by open fields and woodland, offering ample opportunities for hiking, cycling, and horse riding. The nearby Heart of England Forest is a beautiful nature reserve, offering miles of scenic trails and peaceful picnic spots.

Despite its rural setting, Fillongley is conveniently located just a short drive from Coventry city centre. This means residents can enjoy the peace and quiet of village life, whilst still having easy access to all the amenities and attractions of the city.
