Location

Wittering is ideally situated between Stamford and Peterborough. Nestled at the side of the A1, which is fantastic for access North or South.
Peterborough has excellent rail links with London taking 45 minutes to get directly to Kings Cross. While Scotland to the north awaits, as you can catch a train from Peterborough to Edinburgh in 4 hours.

Stamford is an amazing Market town, with schools that are rated outstanding, and an amazing social life, from pubs, clubs coffee bars and fine dinning. It is the home of the Famous George Hotel It is possible that there was a hostelry on the site in 947 but the exact date of the current building is not known. A hospital of the Knights of St John of Jerusalem was on the site and was partly destroyed during the Wars of the Roses. The hospital was associated with Peterborough Abbey. The main block of the hotel was rebuilt, by William Cecil, 1st Baron Burghley in 1597, but may have incorporated fragments of the earlier building. In 1645 Charles I stayed at the George and other notables and sportsmen. There are some reports of the Hotel being Haunted.
